ALASKA: Daylight Savings Issue – Provider Message
Therap has identified an issue related to the upcoming Daylight Savings time change. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are working to provide a release that will resolve this issue, however, it will not be in place in time for the upcoming 2023 “Fall Back” time change.
Therap has confirmed this issue is solely related to the “Fall Back” period of Daylight Savings Time. “Spring Ahead” Daylight Savings Time impacts are not anticipated nor were any issues identified last Spring.
As a result, you may notice automatic time changes and incorrect duration listed ONLY for slots MANUALLY manually checked in to or checked out of, after the fact, across the hour the Daylight Savings switch occurred.
Please note, the issue will appear at different times based on which time zone you are in. The information below will help you identify which of your visits (if any) will be affected by this issue. The recommended corrections are as follows:
FIRST
To find visits that may be affected, identify what time zone your visits occur in and which date/hour will be impacted.

SECOND
After this time has passed, be aware that any visits that need to be edited or manually created across this time may be impacted. Once you have identified the recognized hour that affected your visits, search visits for that day and filter for visits that either Check In or Out during that hour of impact, as well as visits that crossed over that hour.
NO REVISIONS NEEDED
Visits that were captured or created using the following methods will not have any errors, and will require no fixes.
- Mobile Visits captured in the field
- FVV
- IVR
- Manual Visits that cross over the hour the switch occurred
REVISIONS NEEDED
Visits that require a manual creation or edits will NOT be able to have a check in or out that occurs within the affected hour and will require an adjustment away from this affected hour.

Observable Issue
Manual visits created with a check in or check out during the affected hour will convert to the second instance of the DST hour once saved (Daylight Savings “Fall Back” the hour occurred twice, 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM passed, then the clock was moved back, and 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM occurred again). Schedule/Slot reports may be incorrectly reflecting the times and totals around this DST hour.
To fix
Manual visits, in order to contain the correct total time, and send this correctly to the Aggregator, will be required to move the entire visit either forward or backwards such that the check in or check out does not occur during the affected hour within your timezone. We understand that this will require inputting a start time and/or end time that is different from what actually occurred.
Using this fix, Users should add a comment to explain the change they made and why, using an Exception Code that indicates this visit could not be captured correctly.
For any slots that have been used to create billing data in Therap, it is advised to review the units generated to be sure these are accurate for your time zone. You may also need to manually update reports for the affected DST hour.
